*Getting a Flu Vaccine this Year is More Important than Ever. The CDC and other public health and medical partners kicked off the 2020-2021 flu campaign.  It is important to get the flu vaccine this season due to the potential for flu and the COVID virus to spread at the same time.  October is a good time to get vaccinated, but as long as flu viruses are circulating, flu vaccinations should continue---even in January or later. Flu remains a serious threat to children due to its potential to cause severe illness.  Check with your child's care provider and make an appointment for a flu vaccine soon.

There are flu handouts to pick up with vaccine/flu information. There are FREE pocket tissues available in the gathering room and at First Place welcome center to take as a reminder to use tissues and get a flu shot.  These are handy to have in your pocket, purse, car, back pack.

We have received the resignation of Diane Griffith as Treasurer for FUMC, effective December 16, 2020.  Diane has worked to bring the level of this position to one of stability, accuracy, timeliness and  credibility. I, for one, will greatly miss her smile and her attitude for the service she has given our  church, and our Lord, over these past four years.

Thus, FUMC is in search for a Treasurer. It is a part-time position, averaging 15 hours per week. A BS  degree in Accounting is preferred. If you have any interest, please contact Pastor Chris for the job  description. Diane has consented to assist in the training to acquaint the new treasurer with the duties  and responsibilities.

Staff-Parish and Craig Curcio, Chair of Finance, will be overseeing the selection process. Bob Parker

Now more than ever the need for cancer research funding is vital.  10,000 more cancer deaths are predicted because of COVID-19, due to delayed cancer screenings, treatments and halted research. Over the last three years Troy FUMC members have made a BIG IMPACT towards ending cancer with more than $8,000 donated to the Pelotonia campaign. Now it is up to us as a community to continue to fund ground-breaking research in order to not slow progress.

Pelotonia 2020 will be different!  Due to the pandemic there will be no large group bicycle ride in Columbus. Instead each participant is asked to define their own personal activity and fundraising goal. Each member of Team Schilling (Jenny, Jeff and Sarah) has created their own set of goals with the hopes of being able to join together for a long bike ride on Saturday, August 4th.  Pelotonia has always been more than a bike ride.  It’s about conquering a personal challenge and coming together to raise critical funds for cancer research.

100% of every dollar raised by Pelotonia Riders and Volunteers goes directly to fund cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center–Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Every dollar you donate is invested in the brightest minds and ideas, and the tools and technology needed to change the future of cancer care. In just twelve years, the Pelotonia community has raised more than $209 million and has saved many lives through prevention, early detection and the treatment of cancer.

. Cancer has attacked far too many people we love including a mother, our fathers, our sisters, a brother, an aunt, an uncle, a niece, a nephew, and even one of us (Jeff).  It continues to attack co-workers, neighbors, friends and our FUMC family giving no thought to age, sex, or status.

YOU can continue to make a difference!  Every dollar matters! No contribution is too small and 100% goes directly to cancer research.  Make your tax deductible donation:

OR send a check to our address (591 Chartwell Ct., Troy) made out to Pelotonia (NOT TO US) and we can submit it for you

Thank you for your support as we continue to work together to END CANCER.
