Bradley's House of Hope
In February 2005, Rev. Jim Wilson sat in a prayer room with Lorena Mantica, in Nejapa, Nicaragua. Rev. Wilson shared the story of his severely handicapped son, Bradley. Lorena shared her life of brokenness before giving her life to Jesus. She told Rev. Wilson, “It’s not a matter of why children are handicapped, but what comes from the handicapping condition.” These words gave birth to a dream of building Bradley’s House of Hope.
Over 400 families from across the United States of America came together to donate money for the construction of Bradley’s House of Hope. Now the children have a 3,600 square foot building where they receive therapy.
In December 2005, Bradley’s House of Hope was opened and dedicated to the service of children with disabilities. As part of El Samaritano Foundation, it offers children with special needs the physical, educational, emotional and spiritual support that they need. The children receive physical therapy, Equestrian therapy and special education. While the children receive therapy, the mothers attend Bible study classes that help them learn English. They also have the opportunity to learn how to sew.
Equestrian Therapy
Throughout the year, there are mission trips to Nicaragua where members of the congregation as well as others can visit Bradley’s House of Hope to interact and deepen the relationships and friendships with the families. There are currently more than 70 families that participate in Bradley’s House of Hope.
In the spring of 2008, Friends of Bradley’s House of Hope was created. It is a non-profit organization that supports Bradley’s House in Nicaragua. There are two ways to help:
