Adult Ministries

Sunday School
The mission of First United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. One of the important ways that we strive to accomplish that mission is through offering adult Sunday school classes. Our classes are for adults of all ages and include a variety of studies that take place every Sunday at 9:30 am.

Wednesday Evening Fellowship (WEF)
WEF is a time of food, fellowship, and learning. Bible studies scheduled before and/or after a common meal provide times for exploration and discussion on a variety of biblical texts and topics. Additional ministries on Wednesday evening include FLOCK and weekly Junior and Senior High Youth Ministry.

Pet Ministry
The Pet Ministry program is a rewarding journey of ministering to shut-ins and people in Nursing homes. The goal of the course is to use what God has graciously given us - Our Pets - to show His love and reach out to others. The class offers learning new ways to relate to your pets, forming a deeper bond with your pets, making new friends and sharing Christ. We have scripture readings and prayer during class. The handler will learn ways to interact with people and new techniques to help their pets put their best paw forward. The class is an eight week course usually held on Thursday nights. Please contact the church office or Jill McMullen 339-3457 if interested.

Helping Hands
Any member of the church who needs assistance with a minor home repair or yard work may call the church office for assistance. Members of the church may sign up to be a Helping Hands volunteer in the office.

Sunshine Ministry
Sunshine Ministry angels keep connected with the shut-ins of our congregation by delivering flowers twice a year, sending cards, calling or visiting, and bringing rays of sunshine into their lives.

Exercise Classes
Helen Davis, an experienced Pilates instructor, teaches two exercise classes each week. One is designed for seniors and uses chairs while the other is more advanced for all ages. Both of the classes are free.  They are held on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Senior Chair Exercises are at 3:00 pm in Room 304 of the church and the Pilates class is at 3:45 pm on the top floor of First Place.

“Men’s Life” groups consist of Bible studies about topics in which men are interested. The group meets each week for breakfast at Bob Evans, either Mondays from 6:30-7:30 am or Saturdays from 7:30-8:30 am. They enjoy great fellowship and study, and no homework is required.
